Dairy & Meat Industry 2018’s great exhibition results


The 16th edition of the Dairy & Meat Industry exhibition took place in Moscow between From 27 February to 2 March 2018. It’s Russia’s leading business event for the agro-industrial complex, covering the entire cycle: from animal breeding and husbandry, to maintenance and fattening, to processing and packaging of dairy and meat products.

Dairy & Meat Industry 2018: 8.5% more visitors this year

With the introduction of new exhibition sectors and an extensive business programme, Dairy & Meat Industry welcomed 8.5% more visitors in 2018.

Over seven days of the show, 7,759 specialist visitors from the food, dairy, meat, and catering industries from 74 Russian regions and 38 foreign countries attended the show.

Joining them were 237 exhibitors from 25 countries around the world. Of these, 154 were Russian firms.

The total area of the exhibition was 10,000 square metres.

Live animal demonstrations: a new exhibition feature for 2018

In a first for Dairy & Meat Industry, demonstrations of breeding products featuring live animals were held in association with market leader DeLaval. Pedigree goat breeds were on display, including Nubian, Apline and Zaneen goats. DeLaval introduced its latest goat milking, weighing, and boning machinery during the show.

10 masterclasses attended by 500 professionals were held by DeLaval at Dairy & Meat Exhibition, where they demonstrated, with live animals, best practices on goat milking, maintenance, and weighing.

Farmers’ Day

Always a popular section of Dairy & Meat Industry, Farmers’ Day was held again in 2018. 1,031 farming professionals, including livestock keepers, private farmers, and representatives from agroholdings and farming conglomerates, took part.

Russian farmers who took part were given exclusive time with exhibitors and visitors alike, as well as taken on guided tours of the exhibition hall, and unique talks focussed purely on farming.

Dairy & Meat Industry’s extensive Business Programme

2018’s Business Programme was as eventful as ever. It allowed sector specialists the chance to receive a huge amount of knowledge about new trends in animal husbandry and dairy and meat production, let them exchange their experiences, and expand their business ties.

The Business Programme was held across 4 of the exhibition’s 7 days and featured 47 highly successful events. Conferences, seminars, and round tables were all part of the Programme. 203 guest speakers participated in 2018, speaking and interacting with 2,057 event delegates.

Numerous leading industry figures participated in Business Programme events, including many major players at the Dairy and Meat Board-hosted plenary sessions.

Speakers and participants included:

  • Charon Amerhanov — Director of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Breeding of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia
  • Roman Kostyuk — Director General of the National Union of Beef Producers (NSPG)
  • Andrey Danilenko — CEO, SOYUZMOLOKO
  • Professor Liu Ling — Deputy General Secretary of the Dairy Association of China

For the fourth year running, the Veterinary Department of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture held a seminar, “Actual Issues of Veterinary Welfare in Dairy and Meat Cattle Breeding” at the show. This was attended by the Deputy Director of the Ministry’s Veterinary Department, Vladimir Borovoi.

On the same day, the 3rd annual Russian Dairy Analysts “Russian Dairy Industry: Challenges and Opportunities” forum took place. At the forum, the central roundtable focussed on identifying a new management model in Russia’s agro-complex for meat cattle breeding.

Day two hosted two conferences: “Technical Regulation in the Dairy industry: Quality and Safety Standards” and the fourth annual All-Russian “Milk Goat Breeding from A to Z”. Here, new norms for dairy goat breeding were discussed with great success. As part of the goat-focussed conference, a tasting contest for goat milk products was held too.

There was also a great level of interest in the “Technical Regulation in the Dairy Industry: Quality and Safety of Products” conference — specifically the conference’s “Economic Prospects of Beef Cattle: Rising Demand for Livestock” discussion.

Further roundtables on animal nutrition, dairy farming, and milk processing sites also went down well.

The Cheese Club held its second roundtable, “Consumer Extremism in the Dairy Sector: How to Fight It?”, which also proved to be very popular.

The “Membrane Technologies in the Dairy Industry: Current Trends of Development and Experience of Practical Implementation” brought Dairy & Meat Industry 2018’s Business Programme to a close. In attendance were representatives from market leaders Tetra Pak, Kizelmann Rus, GEA, RM Nanotech, and others.

Dairy & Meat Industry returns in 2019

In 2019, the 17th instalment of the Dairy & Meat Industry international exhibition will be held between 19-22 February at the Crocus Expo IEC.
